This week, Asia China Education and Culture (ACEC) Association was honored to be invited to the Chinese New Year (CNY) Open Day hosted by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The event was personally officiated by the Vice-Chancellor of UKM and was filled with a festive atmosphere. Attendees were treated to a delightful array of Chinese and Malaysian delicacies, including the aromatic Lanzhou noodles, delicious dumplings, and the uniquely Malaysian satay, offering a true gastronomic feast.

A highlight of the event was the special lion dance performances by the Malaya University (UM) Lion Dance Troupe and the Johor Yong Peng Jin Shan Sports Association Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe. Dancers, dressed in specially designed costumes, vividly mimicked the movements of lions with their agile gestures, bringing this traditional art form to life. For the Chinese community, the lion dance is more than just a performance—it symbolizes good fortune and prosperity during Lunar New Year celebrations. The skilled performers, working in perfect harmony, brought an electrifying show as one controlled the lion’s head while the other maneuvered the body, all synchronized to the rhythmic beats of traditional drums and firecrackers.

The CNY Open Day was not only a valuable cultural exchange opportunity but also a platform for fostering friendships and strengthening collaborations. ACEC looks forward to participating in more events like this in the future, contributing to the flourishing cultural ties between China and Malaysia.
