ACEC Association Facilitates Visiting Expert Participation in the 2nd Overseas Chinese Talent Conference for Development

The 2nd Overseas Chinese Talent Conference for Development, jointly organized by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, took place in Fuzhou, Fujian, from December 16 to 18, 2024. This highly anticipated event brought together nearly 1,000 participants, including 35 academicians and representatives from 75 domestic and international professional organizations, under the theme “Innovation for Development, Overseas Talent for the Future.”

As a key partner, the Asia China Education and Culture (ACEC) Association played a pivotal role in facilitating international participation. ACEC successfully invited distinguished representatives from Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), and Nilai University. Additionally, ACEC facilitated the attendance of Senator Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau Hoe Chai, a Malaysian Senator and prominent figure, further enriching the conference with his insights and international perspectives.

The conference showcased cutting-edge fields such as aerospace, low-altitude economy, third-generation semiconductors, biomedicine, and new energy vehicles. High-level overseas experts constituted 73.5% of the participants, with 61% holding doctoral degrees or higher. Emerging talents under 45 years old made up 34% of the attendees, highlighting the rising generation of innovation leaders.

Over three days, the conference hosted 19 activities, including industry-matching sessions, technology commercialization forums, and talent exchanges. Participants celebrated the announcement of 183 key outcomes, while 162 technology cooperation agreements were reached, valued at RMB 49.6 billion. Moreover, the event facilitated preliminary employment or recruitment agreements with 306 high-level talents, further demonstrating its value as a platform for fostering international collaboration.

Fujian, has a long-standing tradition of integrating overseas talent and resources into its development. Initiatives such as the "Lead the Way" program have propelled industries like new materials, biomedicine, and information technology, strengthening Fujian's leadership in innovation and collaboration.

Through its proactive efforts, ACEC Association reaffirmed its role as a bridge between international expertise and opportunities in China. By successfully facilitating the participation of Malaysian experts and key figures such as Senator Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau Hoe Chai, ACEC underscored its commitment to fostering global partnerships and contributing to high-quality development.
